Sea freight containers are the "standard carriers" of international trade. Mainstream dry containers (Dry Container, abbreviated GP/HQ) account for over 70%–80% of global container usage.
They feature a rugged, weather-resistant structure suitable for the vast majority of general cargo. Different container sizes differ significantly in capacity, payload, cost, and applicable scenarios.

The dry container, also known as the General Container, is currently the most widely used, most standardized, and most cost-effective container worldwide. All shipping companies' containers follow ISO international standard designs — enclosed, rugged, and durable — and are compatible with virtually all container ships, bulk carriers, railways, cross-border trucks, multimodal transport, and trailer transport globally.
Fully enclosed steel body with doors at both ends, offering excellent waterproof, dustproof, and theft-proof performance. Ideal for long-distance sea transport of regular cargo.
20GP (20-foot standard container): Compact and highly flexible. Suitable for small-batch orders and heavy goods (cargo with high weight but low volume). Freight is relatively economical.
40GP (40-foot standard container): The "extended version" of the 20GP. Great value for money. Suitable for large-volume general cargo exports.
40HQ (40-foot high cube container): Taller (about 30 cm taller than the 40GP) with greater capacity. Currently the most mainstream container type for foreign trade shipments. Ideal for light and voluminous cargo. Freight is typically similar to or slightly higher than the 40GP, making it the top choice for light cargo exports.

45HQ (45-foot high cube container): The largest capacity among mainstream general containers. Suitable for ultra-large volumes of light cargo — home decor, apparel, retail/supermarket goods, e-commerce cargo, etc. Primarily popular on specific routes such as the US, Africa, and Europe. Longer in length, with about 10–13 CBM more volume than the 40HQ.
CSL tip: The 45HQ can significantly reduce per-unit freight and customs clearance costs, but container availability and vessel slots must be confirmed in advance. COSCO's 45-foot containers typically need to be bundled with a truck.
Apparel, daily necessities, hardware, home appliances, plastic products, electronics, carton-packed miscellaneous goods, ordinary machinery parts — any ambient-temperature, dry, standard-sized cargo.
Preferential freight rates, the most abundant slot availability, the simplest booking process, and the strongest versatility.
The reefer container is a specialized container designed for temperature-sensitive cargo. It comes with a built-in insulation system and an independent refrigeration unit, enabling constant-temperature, frozen, or fresh-keeping transport throughout the journey — an essential container type for fresh and cold-chain cargo exports.
The container body is equipped with thickened thermal insulation and professional refrigeration equipment. The temperature can be freely adjusted within a range of -30°C to +30°C, meeting various transport needs including fresh-keeping, refrigeration, and deep freezing.
Seafood, meat, frozen foods, fruits and vegetables, flowers, dairy products, beverages, vaccines, biological agents, temperature-sensitive fine chemicals, etc.
1. Continuous power supply is required throughout the entire journey — trucks, terminals, and vessels must guarantee uninterrupted power.
2. Freight rates are much higher than those of standard dry containers, and slot availability is tight during peak season; booking in advance is essential.
3. The container must be pre-cooled before loading to prevent condensation caused by temperature differences, which can damage the cargo.

Standard dry containers can only be loaded through the rear doors, making it completely impossible to handle extra-tall, extra-long, or extra-heavy cargo. That's where the open-top container comes in.
No fixed hard top; instead, a removable waterproof tarpaulin covers the top. Cargo can be directly hoisted vertically from above using a crane, solving the loading and unloading challenges of extra-tall and heavy goods.
Large mechanical equipment, steel products, steel pipes, rebar, stone, glass, large building materials, oversized irregular equipment — any heavy cargo that cannot enter through the container doors.
Sealing performance is inferior to that of dry containers. Adequate rain protection must be in place when loading in rainy weather, and the tarpaulin must be securely fastened to prevent water ingress and moisture damage during transit.

The flat rack container, also known as a flatbed container, is the exclusive container type for oversized equipment exports. It features an open structure and high load-bearing capacity — an essential choice for construction machinery and large equipment going overseas.
No top cover and no side panels — only a rugged bottom frame and end walls remain. The fully open structure allows loading and unloading from the top and all sides, with exceptional load-bearing capacity.
Construction machinery, excavators, loaders, transformers, large steel structures, wind power equipment, yachts, vehicles, and all types of over-long, over-wide, heavy oversized cargo.
1. The cargo is fully exposed; professional lashing, securing, anti-slip, and anti-sway measures are mandatory.
